FSU Seminoles Eye $327M From Revenue Bonds
The Florida State University athletic department is looking to raise $326.6 million from an upcoming bond offering as administrators speak openly about the Seminoles falling behind financially. A preliminary offering statement, posted this week via Florida’s Division of Bond Finance, says the purpose of the revenue bonds is to finance renovations to the school’s football stadium and the construction of a new football operations facility. The combined cost of those two projects, the statement says, is $372.3 million, with $233.7 million attributed to the Doak Campbell Stadium renovations and $138.6 million to the new football building.

A WNBA League Pass error left fans scrambling to watch Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso make their preseason debuts for the Chicago Sky in Minneapolis on Friday. Despite indicating streaming availability via YouTube before tip-off, the evening’s game was later removed from the league’s platform. With no streaming options — along with no live TV broadcast — WNBA fan Alli Schneider began livestreaming the game on X from her seat inside Target Center. As many as 400,000 people logged on to watch the game live, and by Saturday, the resulting two-hour video had amassed over 2 million total views.

The United States and Mexico have withdrawn their joint bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup, per a Monday afternoon release from U.S. Soccer and the Mexican Football Federation. According to the statement, they will instead focus on developing a “more equitable” bid for the 2031 tournament, with the ultimate goal of “eliminating investment disparities” between the men’s and women’s tournaments. The federations went on to cite the upcoming 2026 Men’s World Cup in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico as an opportunity to build support for local infrastructure, improve audience engagement, and scale up media and partnership deals in preparation to “host a record-breaking tournament in 2031.”

FedEx has chosen to withdraw from its stadium naming rights agreement with the NFL’s Washington Commanders. FedEx had the option to do so if there was a change in the NFL team’s ownership. The team was purchased by Josh Harris from Dan Snyder in July. The team was expected to receive approximately $15 million from FedEx over the next two years, but now they must find a new sponsor, a process they have been engaged in for the past two months.

Of the four remaining contenders for the championship, only Houston won their division; the other three all dispatched heavy favorites in the Division Series. Regardless of whether it’s good for baseball to have the best regular-season teams eliminated two rounds before the World Series, the MLB postseason structure is working exactly the way it was designed.
